Obituary of Allan O'Donnell
Allan O’Donnell, 73, of Milford, PA died unexpectedly on Monday, December 23rd, 2024 at Garnet Hospital in Middletown , NY. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle and friend to all.
Allan was born in Barrow in Furness, England on May 24, 1951, which was a school holiday in his youth. He was the son of Edward and Joan O’Donnell(Benson)
Allan was an athlete playing rugby, cycling and running sprints in track . After his competing days were over, he enjoyed watching rugby live and on TV. Not to mention the Tour de France.
Allan trained as an Apprentice at Vickers Ship Building in Barrow in Furness, England. He was very good at taking things apart and fixing them. After the loss of his father, he studied for the Higher National Certificate in Health and Social Care, an equivalent of a US Associate Degree. Following his successful completion of his studies he became a care assistant in Barrow for special needs adults.
In October of 2001 Allan and his wife came to Matamoras where he became a Care Assistant for the state of NY for special needs adults. He enjoyed helping others and was well liked in return. He retired in 2013 due to ill health.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Linda, his sister-in-law Kathleen O’Donnell (Lackey), his brother-in-law Clifford Blackman and his wife Anna. His niece, four nephews, three great nephews and two great nieces.
He was pre deceased by his parents and his brother, Stephen O’Donnell.
He was a wonderful man who will be missed by everyone he met.
A celebration of life will be held at Belle Reve Senior Living, Milford, PA on February 8, 2025 at 2 PM.
