Obituary of Timothy J Slain

Timothy J. (TJ) Slain, 43 of Milford, PA, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. When he arrived in heaven he was met with open arms from his maternal grandparents, Neil and Angela Gleason, his paternal grandparents, Herb and Sally Slain, his Uncle Sean Slain, and childhood best friend William Berletic.

The son of Timothy M. and Deena (Gleason) Slain, TJ was born July 25, 1981, in Suffern, NY. He was truly the light of his parent’s life. TJ was raised in Haverstraw NY and lived in Village on the Green. His neighborhood was where he created lifelong friendships and memories with many of the children who lived both in and outside “the court.” TJ described his childhood saying, “you couldn’t grow up in a better place.” TJ’s fondest childhood memories were of him and his friends spending countless hours playing baseball at the Haverstraw Little League Field. TJ was a lifelong New York Yankees fan. He loved watching them and spoke of exciting trips his father and him took to Yankee stadium as a child. TJ had a passion for watching and playing baseball but also loved to collect baseball cards, so much so that at a young age, TJ and his parents opened a base card store in Haverstraw called “TJ’s Bull Pen.” Although the store only lasted a few years, TJ remained an avid baseball card collector throughout his life. TJ also had a love for fish. He loved snorkeling in the ocean and creating fish tanks and caring for his fish. TJ was a tried-and-true New York Giants fan and loved spending Sundays watching them with his family.

TJ married the love of his life Jennifer (Tompkins) Slain on May 5^th, 2012, in Stony Point, New York. The bond TJ and Jennifer shared was strong and unique. Their relationship was filled with respect, friendship, laughter, and an indescribable amount of love. Together they created a beautiful life. TJ’s greatest accomplishment was being a father to his son Luca and daughter Gia. TJ was the fun parent, coming up with fun adventures, spending the day boating on Lake Wallenpaupack, always having jam sessions in his jeep, teaching them about baseball and football, and sharing life lessons while roasting marshmallows by the firepit. TJ’s love for his whole family was evident and unwavering.

TJ was the kind of guy that had friends that go back to the day he born and throughout his life he collected many, many more. He was the type of friend that would check in on you often and genuinely cared about what was going on in your life. If you happened to lose touch for a bit, when you did reconnect, you felt as if you never lost touch with him. TJ truly prided himself on being a one-of-a-kind friend and his loyalty to his friends was steadfast.

TJ spent his career thriving in the hospitality industry. He worked his way up from a server to a General Manager of a restaurant at a young age. TJ has spent the last seven years working for Settlers Hospitality as the Director of Food and Beverage. The love and dedication TJ had for his career was simply undeniable. As a boss TJ was fair, but firm and always made sure everyone that worked for him was successful and well taken care of. He was the type of boss that truly put his staff before him. He was a mentor, problem solver, and friend to his staff. When it came to customers, TJ made sure every single one of them was greeted with a smile and made sure to make them feel as though they were the only people who mattered in the restaurant. TJ always treated his staff, co-workers and costumers as if they were family.

TJ leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Jennifer; son Luca; daughter Gia; mother and father Deena and Timothy Slain; Uncle Neil and Aunt Wendy Gleason; Aunt Karen and Uncle Edward Loeschorn; Aunt Sharon Williges; Aunt Gina Gleason; Aunt Donna and Uncle Thomas Carroll; Uncle Brian and Aunt Jeanne Slain; Cousins, Christine (Michael) Cahill; Kerry (Darren) Luzon, Michael Loeschorn; Jennifer (Sam) Montrastelle; Natalia (Justin) Annibali; Matthew (Brianna) Loeschorn; Andrew Gleason; Brittney Slain; Sean (Kristina) Slain; Patrick (Sara) Slain; Stephen Williges;  Samantha Williges; and Sydney Williges;  Mother in law, Karen Smith; Sister in law, Kaila (Allen) Green; Nieces, Madison, Lillianna, and Joeylin Green; Nephew, Anthony Green.

On Friday, September 13^th, 2024, TJ’s family will be receiving friends from 2-4pm and 7-9pm

at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA. On Saturday, September 14^th, 2024, at 11am a funeral mass will be held for TJ at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, 200 East High Street, Milford PA. There will be a Celebration of Life luncheon at Silver Birches Resort, 205 PA-507, Hawley, PA directly after his funeral. TJ was known for his hospitality both at home and at work, all are welcome, always.
