Obituary of Claudia Dacey

Claudia M. Dacey, 90, of Montague, NJ passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024, at home with her family by her side.  

 

Claudia was born on December 25, 1933, to Philip and Edna Miller of Jersey City NJ. Born premature, she battled many childhood illnesses, surviving against all odds.

 

While attending William L. Dickinson High School, she worked on the peddler wagon delivering milk to local residents. 

 

After high school, she worked as an Operator for Bell Telephone Co., New York City, NY until losing her eyesight at the age of 28. Growing up she enjoyed summers vacationing in Hoffman Grove in Wayne, NJ where she became a permanent resident with her spouse and daughter until 1985, when they relocated to Montague NJ after a devastating flood in 1984. 

 
Claudia was predeceased by her husband, John “Captain Jack” Dacey; sister, Muriel “Dottie” Zabelicky; brother, Clem Miller and sister, Arlene Babiak. 

 

Claudia is survived by her daughter, Kim Crosby, spouse Brian Crosby; two grandchildren, Erik Martin, Danielle Martin; three step-grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica and Brian JR. Crosby; two great grandchildren; niece, Kristin Coryell and nephews, Christopher and Richard Zabelicky. 

 

Calling hours will be held at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 4 to 6 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on September 9, 2024, at 6 PM with Rev. Keith Raser officiating. 

 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Father Johns Animal House in Sparta NJ (www.fatherjohns.org).
