Obituary of Joseph Henry DeRose Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Henry DeRose Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend on Saturday, August 10, 2024. Joseph, age 70, was a dedicated construction worker who took pride in his craft and was known for his skill as a craftsman. He had a passion for building furniture and his work was admired by all who saw it.

 

Joseph was a military fanatic who loved history and war memorabilia. He was a member of the 6th Calvary reenactment group for both World War II and Vietnam, and his knowledge and dedication to preserving history was truly remarkable. He will be remembered for his love of all things military and his commitment to keeping the memories of those who served alive.

 

In addition to his work and military interests, Joseph was a loving and devoted family man. He cherished his time spent with his wife, daughter, and grandchildren. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

 

Joseph leaves behind a legacy of hard work, passion, and love that will never be forgotten. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

 

The son of Joseph Henry and Laura Ann (Canessa) DeRose, Joseph was born on May 18, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York. He was married to Gale (Rybski) DeRose.

 

Left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Gale DeRose; daughter, Dana DeRose; grandchildren, Emma Jetters and Gabriel Mattarazzo; mother, Laura Ann DeRose; sisters, Rosemarie Richter, Patricia Feinberg, Anette Martin, Donna Glynn, Laura Jean Insella, Louann Jarrell and Susan Hilton; several nieces and nephews as well as his life long friend which he considered to be his brother, Thomas Patrick.

 

Cremation was private, held at the convenience of the family.
